Cookie Policy
No advertising cookies. Google Analytics cookies only if you accept them. Everything else is essential storage in your own browser, to run the game.
Analytics cookies (only if you accept)
We ask before anything is measured: We use Google Analytics to improve the game. Accept / Decline. Until you tap Accept, Google's analytics script isn't even loaded (we use Google Consent Mode with every type of consent set to denied by default). If you accept, Google Analytics sets two first-party cookies:
- _ga: tells one browser's visits apart with a random number. Expires after 13 months.
- _ga_<id>: keeps the current visit together. Expires after 13 months.
What Google Analytics records is described in the Privacy Policy. We never send your name, email, username or account id, and advertising features stay off. Google Analytics is never used for players under 13 or in the Steam version.
Change your choice: use Cookie settings (also in the website footer, and in the game under Settings > Privacy & data). Declining removes the analytics cookies. You can also use the Google Analytics opt-out add-on or block cookies in your browser.
No advertising cookies
Lost Chapters does not use advertising cookies or advertising trackers, and we don't sell or share data for advertising.
What we store in your browser
To run the game, your browser keeps a few things on your own device (local storage and session storage). These are strictly necessary, so they don't need your consent, but you should know about them:
- Your sign-in token, so you stay signed in.
- Settings such as sound, speed, graphics and layout.
- Your offline profile, when you play without a connection.
- A random device id, used with feedback, error reports and usage events (see the Privacy Policy). It isn't shared with anyone else.
- Your analytics choice (Accept or Decline), so we don't ask again.
- Small reminders, such as that you've seen this notice or an intro.
The game also installs a service worker cache so it loads fast and works offline. It holds copies of the game's own files and art, not personal information.
You can clear all of it at any time in your browser's settings (site data). You'll be signed out and offline progress on that device will be lost.
Third-party content
- Google Analytics: loads from Google's servers only after you accept (see above).
- The game's fonts and 3D graphics library come from our own site, not from another company.
- PayPal: when you open PayPal to buy Gems, PayPal's own window and scripts may set their own cookies, under PayPal's policies.
