The real history
Alvin Cullum York was born on December 13, 1887, in Pall Mall, Tennessee. He grew up on a mountain farm and became an expert rifleman by hunting. He was a wild young man until his mother's challenge reformed him, and he became part of the strict Church of Christ in Christian Union, a pacifist church. When the United States entered World War I, he registered as a conscientious objector, and he was drafted on November 15, 1917.
After talking about the Bible with his commander and spending time in prayer, York came to believe that a man who makes peace by fighting can be a peacemaker, and he went to war. He served in the 328th Infantry Regiment.
On October 8, 1918, during the Argonne Forest offensive, York's unit attacked toward Hills 223 and 240 and met heavy German machine gun fire. Many of his comrades were killed or wounded, and York took charge of a small group. By the end of the fight he and his men had captured 132 prisoners, including four officers, and, by the Army's count, put 35 machine gun nests out of action.
York was promoted to sergeant and received the Distinguished Service Cross, the Medal of Honor in April 1919, and awards from France and Italy. He came home to Tennessee in May 1919 and married Gracie Williams that June. He worked to bring better schooling to rural Fentress County, helping start the York Institute, which opened in 1929. A 1941 film about him starred Gary Cooper, who won his first Academy Award for it.
Alvin York died on September 2, 1964, at age 76.

How the card plays
Alvin York costs 4 crystals and is a 4/3 Common Garnet Soldier. Charge: deal 1 damage to an enemy character. Each time he charges, he adds a point of damage to the enemy character of your choice on top of his four power.
Aim the damage at a 1-health character, or soften a blocker so it dies more easily. York has only 3 health, so he is better at pushing damage than at holding the line. Lexington & Concord Lexington & Concord gives your Soldiers and Rebels +1/+0, making York a 5/3. Charles Lee Charles Lee deals 1 damage to an enemy character if one of yours charged this turn. Bartholomew Roberts Bartholomew Roberts makes your opponent discard a random card if a character of yours charged this turn, so charge with York first and then play the follow-up.
