Real history

The real history

Susan B. Anthony was born on February 15, 1820, in Adams, Massachusetts, and was raised in a Quaker family whose parents were active in antislavery circles. After her family moved to Rochester, New York, in 1845, she became active in the antislavery and temperance movements. While teaching in Canajoharie in 1848 she learned that male teachers earned $10 a month while women earned $2.50, which pushed her toward women's rights.

In 1851 Amelia Bloomer introduced her to Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and the two began a famous partnership. Together they helped found the American Equal Rights Association, edited a newspaper called The Revolution starting in 1868 and helped establish the National Woman Suffrage Association in 1869.

On November 5, 1872, Anthony and 14 other women voted in Rochester, challenging the law that kept women from the ballot. She was arrested, and her trial took place in Canandaigua beginning June 17, 1873. Judge Hunt directed the jury to return a guilty verdict. She was fined $100 plus the costs of prosecution, and she declared that she would never pay. The government never seriously tried to collect.

Anthony kept campaigning for the rest of her life. She died on March 13, 1906, in Rochester, New York. In 1920, fourteen years later, the Nineteenth Amendment was ratified and gave women the right to vote nationwide. It is often called the Susan B. Anthony Amendment.

Game lore (invented)

In the game's story

She found out Marginalian women could not sit on the Bridgecrew council. That lasted a week.

In Lost Chapters' frame story, history's heroes fall into an invented world called Marginalia. That story is fiction; the history on this page is real.

How the card plays

Susan B. Anthony costs 2 crystals and is a 1/3 Garnet Rebel. She has Protest, so your rival cannot choose her as the target of a charge, and your Rebels get +0/+1. She is a Rebel herself, so she counts, and a 1/4 body for two crystals is hard to remove early.

Lead with her on turn two and build a Rebel deck around her. Every additional Rebel gets sturdier, which helps your smaller Rebels survive trades. Redcoats Redcoats is a 2/2 Rebel with Guard that becomes a 2/3 and still hurts an enemy when destroyed. Lexington & Concord Lexington & Concord gives your Soldiers and Rebels +1/+0. Whiskey Rebellion Whiskey Rebellion rests all enemy characters and gives your Rebels +2/+0 this turn, a strong finisher for a wide Rebel board.
