Gold Cards: Inventors and Industry

Gold is the color of Inventors and Industry. Its cards are the builders, tinkerers and tycoons of American history: Nikola Tesla, Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell, George Washington Carver, Henry Ford, the Wright brothers, Andrew Carnegie and George Westinghouse. Its Leader is Nikola Tesla.

How Gold plays

Gold wins by making more stuff than the other player. Its signature action is Build, which creates tokens: Tinker Tokens (1/1 Inventors), Lightbulb Tokens (0/1 Inventors that draw a card when they are destroyed) and Steel Golem Tokens (1/1 with Guard). Isaac Singer, The Workshop and Tesla's own ability fill the field with Tinkers, and Andrew Carnegie Builds three Steel Golems at once and makes all of your tokens hit harder.

Gold is also the home of Items. Equipment such as Finished Product, Inventor's Goggles, The Steam Engine and Apollo 11 turns an ordinary character into a threat, and cards like Eli Whitney search your deck for the Item you need. Thomas Edison Builds a Lightbulb Token every time you play an Item, so Items and tokens feed each other.

The Inventors archetype

The Collection groups Gold's plan under Inventors: cards with the Inventor subtype, Items, and cards that mention Tinkers or Lightbulbs. Tesla makes your other Inventors cheaper, so a Gold deck that leans into Inventors plays more cards per turn than most.

Weak spots

Tokens are small, and effects that damage every enemy character can wipe a wide Gold field in one turn. Gold answers with Counters like Zap and Ring, Ring!, and with cards that replace themselves, such as Lightbulb Tokens. A good Gold player spreads out without overcommitting, and keeps a crystal ready for a Counter.
