Game plan
Neil Armstrong leads a Cobalt deck built around planning and card flow. His Leader has Explore, which means it can only be blocked by characters that also have Explore. When his Leader hits the enemy Leader, you draw a card. With a Leader power of 6, he is a real threat on his own from the second turn.
His second line turns leftover crystals into cards: once per turn, pay 2 crystals to draw a card. The plan is to keep charging with the Leader, draw into your best pieces, and use the extra cards to answer whatever the rival builds.
His Command, Giant Leap, costs only 2 crystals. You look at the top 3 cards of your deck and take one, and your Leader gets +2 power and Double Chapter for the turn, so a hit takes 2 Life instead of 1. Save it for a turn when the enemy has no Explore blocker ready.
His three Signature cards cost 1 less under him. Neil Armstrong, Space Explorer is a 6/6 with Explore that draws a card when he arrives. Space Helmet equips +0/+3, a cheap way to keep a key character alive. Apollo 11 equips +3/+3, Explore and Double Chapter, turning one character into a second evasive threat.
The best Armstrong turns mix one strong play with one draw. Don't spend every crystal on cards if the board is slipping away, and remember that a rested character can be charged on your rival's turn.
Strengths
- His Leader has Explore, so only characters with Explore can block it.
- Every time his Leader hits the enemy Leader, you draw a card.
- Spare crystals are never wasted: pay 2 to draw a card once per turn.
Weaknesses
- A deck that spends its crystals drawing cards can fall behind on the board.
- Rivals with their own Explore characters can block his Leader.

The real Neil Armstrong
Neil Armstrong (1930 to 2012) flew as a Navy pilot in the Korean War and later as a test pilot of the rocket-powered X-15. In March 1966 he was command pilot of Gemini 8, which performed the first docking of two spacecraft in orbit. When a stuck thruster sent the joined craft into a violent spin, Armstrong regained control and brought himself and David Scott home safely, although the mission had to end early.
On July 20, 1969, he and Buzz Aldrin landed Apollo 11's lunar module Eagle in the Sea of Tranquility, and Armstrong became the first person to walk on the Moon. He later taught aerospace engineering and was known for being modest about his achievements.
