Game plan
George Washington leads the Quartz deck, built on endurance and command. His passive gives every Founder you control +0/+1, so your Founders survive fights that would destroy them in other decks. His second line is one of the most flexible abilities in the game: once per turn, pay 1 crystal to refresh one of your characters. A character can charge and then stand back up to defend, or charge a second time.
The plan is to build a sturdy field of Founders, trade well in combat, and then move the whole army at once when the board is yours.
His Command, Continental Army, costs only 2 crystals, so you can call it as soon as Commands unlock. It Builds 2 Steel Golem Tokens, 1/1 characters with Guard that block without resting, and gives all of your characters +1/+1. The bonus is permanent, so calling it with a field already in play is worth more.
His three Signature cards cost 1 less under him. George Washington, Freeworld Founder is a 5/7 that gives your other characters +1/+1. Winter Encampment is a Location that gives one of your characters +1/+1 at the end of every turn. Crossing the Delaware is a Triumph event that refreshes your characters and gives them +2/+0 and Swift for the turn; like every Triumph, it is free if revealed from your Life when your Leader is hit.
Washington wins long games. Keep a crystal for the refresh, block with your Golems, and strike when your army outnumbers theirs.
Strengths
- Founders get +0/+1, so his core characters are hard to remove in a fight.
- Paying 1 crystal to refresh a character lets it charge and still stand ready to block, or charge twice.
- Continental Army costs only 2 crystals and buffs your whole field permanently.
Weaknesses
- His plan is steady rather than explosive, so fast Explore decks can race past his blockers.
- Steel Golem Tokens are 1/1, so they fall to effects that damage every enemy character.

The real George Washington
George Washington (1732 to 1799) commanded the Continental Army through the American Revolution. On the night of December 25 to 26, 1776, he led about 2,400 soldiers across the icy Delaware River and surprised the Hessian garrison at Trenton the next morning, a victory that revived the Revolution after a year of defeats.
After the war he presided over the Constitutional Convention in 1787 and served as the first President of the United States from 1789 to 1797, stepping down voluntarily after two terms. His home, Mount Vernon in Virginia, is preserved as a historic site.
