Quartz Cards: Founders and Revolution

Quartz is the color of Founders and Revolution: the generals, writers and statesmen who built the United States. Its cards include George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, John and Abigail Adams, Alexander Hamilton, Paul Revere, the Marquis de Lafayette, Abraham Lincoln and Franklin D. Roosevelt, plus the documents and places of the founding era. Its Leader is George Washington.

How Quartz plays

Quartz is the endurance color. Its characters have high health, Locations like Fort Sumter and The Statue of Liberty make your whole side tougher, and Guard characters like Abigail Adams and Chips, Purple Hearted hold the line while the rest of your army grows.

Quartz rewards playing Founders together. John Hancock draws a card if you already control another Founder, National Convention makes your Founders cheaper and stronger, and The Constitution gives every Founder +2/+2. Pairs reward history buffs too: Abigail Adams gets +2/+2 while you control John Adams, and Thomas Jefferson grows next to him as well.

The Founders archetype

The Collection groups Quartz's plan under Founders: cards with the Founder subtype and cards that mention them. Washington's Leader ability gives every Founder +0/+1, and his refresh ability lets one character charge and still stand ready to block.

Triumphs and big turns

Quartz has many Triumph events, cards you may play for free when they are revealed from your Life after your Leader is hit. Independence Day refreshes your characters and gives them +2/+2, and The Gettysburg Address Recovers 2. Losing Life to a Quartz deck can hand it a comeback.

Weak spots

Quartz is slower than Garnet or Emerald. Evasive Explore attackers can fly over its blockers, so a Quartz player needs to close the game once the board is under control.
